Draconian DRM ruins this title, 2008-11-29 While the game may boast some great technical marvels, the draconian DRM (copy protection) prevents the game from being installed in many cases. The support in this situation is exactly none. A visit to EA's website reveals an unfriendly interface that yields nothing of value. You are basically left to your own devices to figure out the problems - which are many. The installer often fails meaning you have to revert to some very esoteric ways to get the product installed. You are then rewarded with the activation attempt, only to find it fails, too, and proceeds to delete the binary (main program) which prevents any more attempts unless you de-install and re-install. That process will take about 30-40 minutes per attempt. Wow, what fun!
I'm no noob, either, and have probably bought every major title to hit the shelves in the last 25 years. Oh, and did I mention I am a 3D game consultant too?! This is BY FAR the worst copy protection scheme I have ever seen, even considering the debacle called STEAM. The people who shipped this should be flogged with a rope stacked with these worthless DVDs. Why even bother talking about the game itself? Do yourself a favor and pass on this $30 coaster.
