 Great Product - A little tricky install - but still worth it!, 2008-07-17
REASON FOR PURCHASE:
I ordered this product because I wanted to upgrade the data modem that came with my computer. I wanted to be able to use the computer as an answering machine, place phone calls, send/receive faxes, and email myself when I had new messages. It works great!
REVIEW OF PRODUCT:
I agree with many of the other reviews. The internal card is wonderful! It works great! The software that comes on the CD with this product is old, outdated and plain junk. I only used the disc for the drivers it contained. I even found some better updated drivers online.
REVIEW OF INSTALLATION:
As for the installation -- Windows XP was also very picky when I tried to install the internal card. I had to try one PCI slot, turn on the computer, and then when it didn't work, I had to turn off the computer, and move the card to another PCI slot. After a few tries, I finally found a PCI slot that would work correctly, and it has been smooth sailing ever since. (I understand that this problem is a Windows XP issue, and NOT an issue with this product!) This is the reason for the four stars.
