I was lucky. I had this DVD player for nearly a year before it suddenly stopped working. I had just used it recently, but today it refuses to power on under any circumstances. It was plugged into a quality surge protector, so I doubt a surge killed it. It just died. I decided to take a look inside, mostly to see if I had left a disc in the tray. The electronics and mechanical parts look surprisingly solid for a player this cheap. It's a shame the quality control is apparently lacking. When it did work, it was OK, but the motor was pretty noisy. The price may be tempting, but expect to be disappointed in the long run (or short run in some cases).
