It Put the "Fun" in "Malfunction", 2007-12-19
My sister and I got this game out of a cereal box. When we first started playing it, it was pretty much broken. The graphics were distorted, so everything was black or illegible. This made it pretty hard to play word games, and thus the CHALLENGE. One level we had to do completely by randomly guessing, but we were DETERMINED. Also, the villains were scary as all get out, as they would just randomly appear, all fragmented and half-neonish.

Then, one day, the game started working correctly. We were elated! Then-we were heartbroken. Word Detective, it turns out, is not nearly as much fun if you can read the words. The games were too easy, the villains were not frightening, and we did not feel the same sense of accomplishment.

If you can get your hands on a malfunctioning version of this game, it is a solid 4 stars-perhaps even 5. The game as intended is not worth your money.
