Total Recorder records streaming audio directly from systems like RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, iTunes, and Internet telephony programs (Skype, Google Talk, etc.). While recording Internet-telephony conversations, recording of both parties are possible. It can also record audio from cassette tapes, LPs, DVDs, CDs or through a microphone connected to your PC. As opposed to majority of recording software, Total Recorder records sound from another software in digital format directly without a conversion. It is possible to perform recording in any of supported sound format: WAV, MP3, WMA, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC and APE.

You can use both regular recording and recording through built-in or an external scheduler. Total Recorder Standard supports playlists in M3U, PLS and WPL formats and allows to work with file tags. The program also can be used as a converter between any of the supported formats.

Total Recorder supports free and trial add-ons that can be used to improve the quality of your cassette or vinyl records and voice dictating tremendously, accomplish automatic gain control, apply an equalizer, and send your recordings to iTunes/iPod and others.
