IDAutomation File Replicator is a directory mirroring and file synchronization utility that also creates additional backup copies of all updated, replaced or deleted files. It allows laptop users to access data on the server when away from the office and provides a data backup plus disaster recovery without additional hardware.

This product is commonly used in the following configurations:
Users with laptops replicate to the server when they are in the office, so they have access to all necessary files when they travel. For example, a laptop user replicates their My Documents folder with their Home Directory on the server when in the office. This also ensures that all local files are available on the server and that old copies of updated or deleted files are available on the laptop if they are needed.

A user at a small business or home office creates a replica on a laptop as a means of data backup and it also becomes an off-site storage device for disaster recovery.

As a SOHO synchronization and backup utility, replicas are created on 2 or more PCs without the need for a dedicated server.

Home office users synchronize files to the corporate server over a WAN link at night to provide high speed access to files during work hours.

In organizations with many locations, shared files are replicated between file servers.
